AP Name Broadcasting - Can you help?
I have created a "page" on this blog, where I would like to compile data regarding the AP Name Broadcast feature offered (or not) from each of the Wi-Fi vendors.
I am very keen to keep the information on this page up to date and accurate!

How Can You contribute?
For each Wi-Fi vendor, I need:
Autonomous / Site Survey Mode
- AP to be configured with a hostname
- Packet Capture of a beacon frame, so we can identify if the AP supports Name Broadcasting
Controller / Cloud Managed Mode
- AP to be configured with a hostname
- Packet Capture of a beacon frame, so we can identify if the AP supports Name Broadcasting
Maximum character length test
- If the Vendor does support Name Broadcasting, next I want to test the maximum characters possible in the broadcast Name field
- Set the AP Name to: ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ (and more letters if needed)
- If all characters are present within the beacon frame, then extend the hostname
How does the Vendor refer to this feature?
