Something witty about why would you need special instructions on how to do that… it is a native Ekahau for Windows functionality!
yeah, yeah, yeah, I know.
For whatever reason, you want/need to run multiple instances of Ekahau on your Macbook Pro.
DANGER
Be careful, this is not ‘officially’ supported or recommended by Ekahau.
Corruption and/or loss of data caused by following these instructions is YOUR responsibility, not mine.
Method 1 - via Finder
Launch Finder
navigate to your applications directory
right click on your ‘Ekahau Pro.app’ - Show package contents
navigate to the ‘MacOS’ directory
double click ‘Ekahau AI Pro’ the Unix Executable File
this will launch a terminal window, and shortly afterwards a second instance of Ekahau will appear.
Note that the second instance is running from that terminal window… if you close the terminal window, the process will be terminated and your special second instance will close down.
Method 2 - Launch ‘second instance’ from terminal
Assuming you have not made edits to the default name of the Ekahau AI Pro.app
Launch your terminal
open '/Applications/Ekahau AI Pro.app/Contents/MacOS/Ekahau AI Pro'
Method 3 - Create an alias
Launch Finder
navigate to your applications directory
right click on your ‘Ekahau Pro.app’ - Show package contents
navigate to the ‘MacOS’ directory
right click on ‘Ekahau AI Pro’ the Unix Executable File
make alias
rename it
move the alias into your applications directory
if you want to get fancy you can replicate the app icon
right click and ‘Get Info’ on both the original app and the second instance alias
select the icon in the top left corner of the info window
CMD + C to copy it
select the icon in the top left corner of the alias info window
and CMD + V to paste
and that… is that
