Premise
During a site visit with a colleague, conversation touched upon the lack of 1/4” thread on the Ekahau SK2. This instantly struck me a problem that could be elegantly resolved with 3D printing.
The problem (to be solved)
Ekahau Sidekick 2 does not come with a 1/4” thread.
Resolution
Design and 3D print a plate that would interface with screw holes on the reverse of the SK2 and ‘critically’ offer up a 1/4” thread for attaching to carry solutions.
Risks
Damage to SK2:
- From inserting machine screws a greater distance than intended by original manufacturer
- Impact with the floor, if the plate or threaded insert fail
Upside
This could improve receive function of the SK2 as (depending on the holster used) the SK2 unit may be positioned away from the body of the surveyor.
